Ingmar Bergman, Rest in Peace

The definitive film artist Ingmar Bergman has passed away today, Monday July 30, 2007. I am currently watching his interview on the "Wild Strawberries" DVD. I have not seen the movie, though the synopsis says it is preoccupied with death.

He's very removed from my formative filmmaking experience, as his earlier movies were only available in atrocious film chain dubs on VHS. Now, thanks to Criterion, you can actually appreciate the light that stunned audiences of past.

Will he be forgotten? The films will remain, and the iconic "Death" from "7th Seal" will be embedded in goth conciousness forever. I better pay my respects and start watching Wild Strawberries.
